Johnston Quarter has taken another key step towards the next phase of our business park expansion with a £250,000 investment in a new high-voltage power connection.

The connection will provide the electricity capacity needed to support up to 360,000 sq ft of new industrial, warehousing, manufacturing and commercial space, for which we secured outline planning permission in April 2026.

When fully developed, subject to reserved matters applications, Johnston Quarter will increase from 650,000 sq ft to more than one million sq ft of industrial and commercial space.

This is intended to support the creation of 1,090 jobs and generate around £57.3 million in annual gross value added for the regional economy.

“The new power connection addresses a long-standing constraint on development at Johnston Quarter, and has only been made possible by the earlier investment by Breckland Council. Rob McIndoe, Director of Johnston Quarter

The new power connection links Johnston Quarter to the Snetterton primary substation, delivered by Breckland Council in partnership with UK Power Networks following £3.5 million grant funding.

It is the largest single investment the Council has made in electricity infrastructure, and part of a wider scheme of investment in Snetterton Commercial Hub.

Richard Johnston Limited has been investing in its site for more than 40 years with Johnston Quarter recognised as one of the best locations in East Anglia for businesses to grow.

“This is another important step forward in realising the joint vision for growth at Snetterton, which is both regionally and nationally significant. Councillor Paul Claussen, Executive Member for Development and Growth at Breckland Council

The power investment reflects Johnston Quarter’s position as a key strategic employment site, identified in the Norfolk Local Growth Plan along the Cambridge–Norwich Tech Corridor and the London-to-Cambridge growth corridor.

The Local Growth Plan identifies the area as one of the county’s key strategic employment sites, covering 200 hectares.

Businesses interested in opportunities at Johnston Quarter should contact joint letting agents Bidwells or M1 Agency to discuss current and future availability.
