Major expansion approved for Johnston Quarter business park

Posted on: April 17th, 2026 by chris@chrismorrispr.com

We are delighted to announce a significant milestone for Johnston Quarter, with outline planning permission granted by Breckland Council for a major expansion of our business park.

The permission covers up to 360,000 sq ft of new storage and distribution space on eight hectares of land to the north of the existing site. The development has the potential to create 1,090 jobs and generate approximately £57.3 million in gross value added to the regional economy each year.

The expansion is supported by a £250,000 investment by Johnston Quarter in a high-voltage power connection to a primary substation, delivered by Breckland Council and UK Power Networks, following grant funding of circa £3.5 million.

This addresses a long-standing constraint on development at the business park, unlocking its full potential. The connection is expected to be completed in August 2026.

The planning approval is supported by a £500,000 power infrastructure investment to bring high-voltage power to the expansion land, addressing a long-standing constraint on development in the area and unlocking the business park’s full potential. The works are being delivered by UK Power Networks and are expected to be completed by summer 2026.
